Hangar Skate Returns to YZD!

Get ready to glide into winter at YZD with free outdoor ice skating! Experience our 4,500 square foot refrigerated rink, surrounded by vibrant art installations at the YZD Plaza. Now in its third year, this beloved event includes affordable skate rentals, complimentary indoor arts programming, holiday activities, DJ skate nights and surprise and delights for all ages.

No skates or helmets? No problem! Rentals are just $5 for adults and free for children under 12. 

Holiday Skating (December 20, 2024 – January 5, 2025)

Join us this holiday season for daily skating, festive performances, and interactive indoor arts programming by North York Arts. Winter skating officially begins on December 20th.  We can’t wait to see you on the ice! 

Kick off the festivities on our opening weekend from December 20-22, with a YZD Plaza Lighting Ceremony and a community holiday market featuring delicious food trucks and local artisan offerings inside the YZD Experience Centre and Plaza.

  • December 20: 5:00pm – 9:00pm (Holiday Kick off & Plaza Lighting)
  • December 21 – January 5*: 12:00pm – 5:00pm
    *Hangar Skate is closed on December 25.    

Hangar Skate (January 10 – February 17, 2025)

Join us for weekend skating featuring live DJs on Fridays, free lessons on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and drop-in arts programming at the YZD Experience Centre.

  • Fridays: 5:00pm- 9:00pm (DJ Skate Nights)
  • Saturdays & Sundays: 12:00pm – 5:00pm
